A very warm welcome to the Year 6 page at St Matthew’s Primary School! We are Miss Manly and Mrs Hardingham, and we are delighted to be working with our fantastic Year 6 children in 6M and 6H this year.
Year 6 is a very special year. It is a year full of new challenges, exciting learning, laughter, friendships and plenty of opportunities to shine! As our children become the oldest pupils in the school, we want them to develop not only as learners, but also as confident, responsible and caring young people who are ready for their next adventure. There is lots to look forward to! Alongside preparing for their SATs, our children will experience a rich and varied curriculum, exploring fascinating topics, asking thoughtful questions, developing their skills and discovering new things about the world around them.
At the heart of everything we do are our four school values: Love, Respect, Creativity and Teamwork. These values guide the way we learn, the way we treat one another and the way we approach challenges. Whether we are working independently, supporting a friend, solving a tricky problem, sharing an idea or celebrating someone else's success, we encourage our children to live out these values every day.
This page will be a place where we can share some of the fantastic learning, exciting experiences and memorable moments from our Year 6 journey.

This term, 6M has PE on Wednesday and 6H has PE on Thursday. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit. Try to read with your child every day to help develop their confidence and enjoyment of reading. Homework will be given out on Wednesday and should be returned on Monday. There will be 1 English and 1 Maths per week, as well as weekly spellings and daily reading.
Thank you for your continued support.
