At our school, Religious Education (RE) is central to our vision as a Church of England school and plays a key role in developing children’s understanding of the world and their place within it. Our ethos, “Let all you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14), underpins all aspects of school life. Rooted in this Christian vision, our core values of Love, Respect, Creativity and Friendship guide how we learn, reflect and grow together.
Our RE curriculum is designed in line with national guidance and reflects the expectations of SIAMS. It is informed by high-quality resources, including the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education Primary RE Curriculum, ensuring a well-sequenced and engaging programme of learning for all pupils.
Through RE, children develop a deep understanding of Christianity as a living and diverse faith, while also learning about a range of world religions and non-religious worldviews. Pupils are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, reflect on their own beliefs and values, and develop respect, empathy and understanding for others.
Our curriculum is progressive and knowledge-rich, building pupils’ skills in enquiry, reflection and critical thinking. It supports children in making sense of religion and belief, understanding their impact, and expressing their own ideas thoughtfully and respectfully.
Living out our vision, “Let all you do be done in love,” RE helps pupils to flourish—nurturing curiosity, encouraging courageous conversations, and enabling children to live well together in a diverse society with dignity, compassion and respect.
