Safeguarding Statement (Statutory Information)

St Matthew’s C of E Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

Our safeguarding procedures are in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and local authority guidance. All staff receive regular safeguarding and child protection training, and safeguarding is a standing item in staff meetings.

We ensure that:

• Appropriate safeguarding checks are carried out on all staff and volunteers.

• All staff know how to recognise and report concerns.

• Clear procedures are in place for responding to child protection issues.

• We work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to support children’s safety and wellbeing.

The school has  trained Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and deputy DSLs who take responsibility for child protection and safeguarding matters.

Our safeguarding and child protection policy is available on this page and is reviewed annually, or sooner if required, in line with statutory guidance.
